Welcome to the website of the Institute of Musicology and the Arts (IMA), a young but ambitious institute that aims to advance the field of music education research.

About Institute of Musicology and Arts

As part of the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg, the institute is embedded in the Luxembourgish context, where music education is valued as a of the Luxembourgish education system. Through its research and education (Bachelor, IFEN), the institute actively contributes to music education in Luxembourg.

IMA also contributes through its collaborations, events, research, and publications to the international body of work on music education.  

Projects span a range of contexts and foci, with a particular emphasis on embodied music pedagogy, creativity, and digitization.

Tribute to Prof. Damien Sagrillo

The Institute of Musicology and the Arts pays tribute to Prof. Damien Sagrillo, whose vision, leadership, and scholarship were instrumental in shaping the Institute during its formative years. Since its creation in 2021, Prof. Sagrillo played a central role in establishing a strong research profile dedicated to the study and valorisation of Luxembourg’s musical heritage. His legacy continues to shape our work today.
