Hardship assistance offers
Student Hardship Fund
The 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg Hardship Fund provides assistance to registered Bachelor, Master and self-funded doctoral students experiencing financial difficulties, and particularly to those facing unexpected hardship. If you are struggling financially and are worried that this may affect your ability to continue your studies, you may be eligible for assistance from the Hardship Fund. The Hardship Fund is intended to act as a safety net for those in financial difficulty; it may not be used a main source of income and should not be seen as a grant or a scholarship.
Other help you should look into before applying to the Hardship Fund
Luxembourg students should apply to to see whether they are eligible for any grants or loans before submitting an application to the Hardship Fund.
EU students should have applied for any student grants and loans that are available in their home country.
Overseas students have to supply proof of funding before arriving in Luxembourg and should ask their guarantors to honour this plan before submitting an application to the Hardship Fund. The Hardship Fund will not be prepared to assist you unless there has been some unexpected change of circumstances since you submitted your proof of funding.
The allocation of this financial support is based on the unique personal and social situation of the applicant. To qualify for funding you must meet certain conditions:
- The 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg Hardship Fund is available from the 3rd semester onward of your current Study Programme (you need to have completed at least 2 previous semesters at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg in your current Study Programme) and
- you must be fully registered in a Bachelor, Master or self-funded Doctoral Programme at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg and
- not have applied for or have been granted other financial aids and
- not have been subject to a disciplinary sanction during your studies at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg and
- be in immediate, unexpected and exceptional need of help for reasons of financial hardship
All students are expected to have made adequate and realistic financial provision to cover core living costs, i.e. rent, food and utility bills, before starting their Study Programme. Where adequate financial provision has not been made and you have started your Study Programme with insufficient funds to cover your basic living costs, it is unlikely that you will qualify for funding from the Hardship Fund.
No more than 1 request can be made per semester.
