Board of Governors

The Board of Governors (Conseil de Gouvernance) decides on the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½â€™s general strategy and policies and oversees the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½â€™s activities. It comprises 13 voting members. Eleven members are appointed by the Government, two of whom are proposed by the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ Council. The Head of the Staff Delegation and the Head of the Student Delegation are also voting members of the Board of Governors. The 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ Rector and the Government Commissioner participate in meetings of the Board of Governors in an advisory capacity.

Assisting the Board of Governors

Secretary-General

The main role of the Secretary-General to the Board of Governors is to integrate the concept and functioning of the Board into the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ and at the same time to liaise and ensure cohesion between the Board and the Rectorate. This involves working closely with the Rectorate and the members of the Board of Governors. The primary tasks of the Secretary-General are:

  • to draw up and manage the agendas of meetings in close collaboration with the Chairman of the Board and the Rector
  • to prepare and examine the topics to be discussed at plenary meetings and at Board committee meetings
  • to manage the agendas of Board meetings, which are closely linked to the agendas of meetings of the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ Council
  • to keep a record of decisions taken by the Board and communicate these decisions to the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ community, thereby preserving the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½â€™s institutional memory
  • to write a report for each meeting of the Board
  • to liaise between the Chairman and the members
