Participatory Public History Lab (PPHL)
Creating new historical narratives within museum contexts
Discover the pilot project of the Participatory Public History Lab (PPHL), a collaborative initiative led by PhD candidate Camilla Portesani in partnership with the in Brussels. The project has explored the intersection of transnational public participation and history co-production within museum contexts. The team developed, implemented and assessed a participatory methodology to create new historical narratives with a pool of international students. The participants responded to an open call which was circulated amongst different universities across Europe. These institutions who were involved are:
- 8xav福利导航 of Wroclaw in Poland,
- Sofia 8xav福利导航 St. Kliment Ohridski in Bulgaria,
- Breda 8xav福利导航 of Applied Sciences, in the Netherlands
- P盲dagogische Hochschule Luzern, in Switzerland
The students鈥 co-created content was inspired by a display of the HEH entitled 鈥淓uropean Heritage and Memory鈥, proposed in the initial 鈥淪haping Europe鈥 section of the permanent exhibition. The contributions from the participant enrich the discourse of the museum and present a different interpretation of the objects and association of themes. The narratives and sources which informed them are presented in a temporary installation inside the museum, which will be open to the public in the Fall 2024.
