Silvia Venditti is a Research Scientist at the 8xav�������� of Luxembourg. She is Head of the Environmental Process Engineering in Water Systems (ProWater) research group.

Dr. Venditti’s research aims to drive innovation in monitoring strategies dedicated at understanding, tracking, and mitigating water pollution, while promoting the sustainable and rational use of water resources.

Since 2017, Dr. Venditti has been giving lectures on nature-based solutions and micropollutant mitigation strategies in the Master’s programs in Civil Engineering and in Développement Durable – Énergie et Environnement, within the Department of Engineering. Due to the interdisciplinary nature of her approach, she has also been invited to deliver similar lectures in the “Global Environmental Change in the Anthropocene” course, part of the Master’s program in Geography and Spatial Planning, in collaboration with Prof. Ariane König from the Faculty of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences (FDEF).

Dr. Venditti has participated in a number of public outreach events, such as the LUGA Exhibition for Phytoremediation 2025, “Research at School” organized by the FNR, as well as the Open Days and Scienteens Academy organized by the 8xav�������� of Luxembourg. She also serves as the national representative on the National Associations Advisory Committee (NAAC) of the Association of European Science and Technology Transfer Professionals (ASTP).

Dr. Venditti has received several recognitions, including the 2025 Marie Speyer Excellence Award for her project idea on the role of fungi in environmental bioremediation.

Between 2010 and 2015, Dr. Venditti worked as R&D engineer at the Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST). Afterwards, she spent one year at the Luxembourgish company Apateq were she served as Senior Process Engineering before joining the 8xav�������� of Luxembourg in 2017. At the 8xav��������, Dr. Venditti worked five years as Research Facilitator and four years as Post Doctoral Researcher at the Urban Water Management Chair led from Prof. Joachim Hansen.

Dr. Venditti obtained her PhD in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London (United Kingdom), with a focus on the fundamental understanding of crude oil fouling in heat exchangers. Prior to that, she completed her degree in Environmental Engineering at the 8xav�������� of L’Aquila (Italy), focusing on the remediation of acid mine drainage waters using permeable reactive barriers.
