Juan Pablo Carmona Almazán is a Doctoral Resarcher at the Physics of Living Matter group led by Professor Dr. Anupam Sengupta in the Department Physics and Materials Science at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg.

His research focuses on the biophysics of the cancer microbiome, investigating how the progression of certain cancers—such as colorectal, lung, and pancreatic cancers, among others—is influenced by interactions between the tumor microenvironment and various bacterial species. During his doctoral thesis project, under the supervision of Prof. Anupam Sengupta, Juan Pablo will describe the physical interactions and modifications within this microenvironment and develop novel cell and bacterial culture techniques to achieve his research objectives.

Throughout his bachelor’s degree, Juan Pablo received the Academic Excellence Distinction each year. He graduated cum laude in both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, demonstrating consistent academic excellence.

Between 2020 and 2021, he worked as Research Assistant in the Complex Fluid Lab at the Autonomous 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of San Luis Potosí, Mexico. In 2023, he worked at the Center of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology in Ensenada, Mexico, as an HPLC analyst in collaboration with a private clinic in Tijuana.

Juan Pablo Carmona Almazán obtained his Bachelor in Biophysics at the Autonomous 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of San Luis Potosí and a Master’s degree in Nanoscience from the Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education at Ensenada, Baja California.
