Bradley Ladewig is Full Professor of Energy Process Engineering and is the holder of the Paul Wurth Chair of Energy Process Engineering. He leads the Paul Wurth Chair activities in research and industrial engagement on the topic of renewable hydrogen and low-carbon technologies.

Bradley Ladewig has a range of research interests ranging from porous materials to application of renewable hydrogen for industrial decarbonization. His core research experience includes the design, synthesis, characterisation and testing of porous and polymeric materials for molecular separations – principally as sorbents and membranes. He is particularly interested in exploiting modern materials design tools including machine learning and highly-automated synthesis and characterisation platform technologies. The major application focus is on clean energy and environmental applications, most recently in the area of renewable hydrogen. He has supervised more than 22 PhD students to completion, attracted substantial third-party research funding, and has published widely.

Bradley Ladewig regularly engages with society, industry and government on energy and especially renewable hydrogen topics. He gives regular public talks and presentations on topics such as decarbonization using renewable hydrogen, low-carbon technologies using hydrogen, and climate change. He is particularly active in large projects involving many industry and academic partners, including the Luxembourg Hydrogen Valley (LuxHyVal) and the Marie Curie Staff Exchange project Hydrogen from Waste (HyWay) – in both cases as Coordinator. He is also a participant in the Alentejo Green Hydrogen Valley project.

Bradley Ladewig was awarded his PhD from the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Queensland in 2006, and was then a postdoctoral researcher at the CNRS in Nancy, France, and at the Australian Institute of Bioengineering and Nanotechnology at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Queensland, Australia. He was appointed Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Monash 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½, Australia, in 2009, and promoted to Senior Lecturer and then Associate Professor. In 2015 he took up a position of Senior Lecturer in Chemical Engineering at Imperial College London. In 2018, following a period as Alexander von Humboldt Fellow in the Institute for Micro Process Engineering (IMVT) at the Karlsruhe Institution of Technology, he was appointed Group Leader, where we worked until he was called to the Paul Wurth Chair at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg in 2022.

Bradley Ladewig holds Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) with Honours and a PhD in Chemical Engineering, and is a Chartered Chemical Engineer (CEng). He also holds a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education from Monash 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½, Australia. In 2024 and 2025 he will undertake the Cambridge Senior Management Programme at the Judge Business School, Cambridge 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½.
