Anne-Marie HANFF is a postdoctoral researcher in nursing sciences in the Department of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences (DHML) and part of the Nursing Sciences Research Group.

Across her research career, her central motivation has been to conduct science that improves care, empowers people living with chronic conditions, and strengthens the evidence base guiding nursing decision‑making. Her research focuses on Parkinson’s disease, with particular emphasis on patient‑reported outcomes, functional mobility, self‑care in chronic conditions, and mixed‑methods research designs integrating quantitative longitudinal data and qualitative approaches. She is committed to research integrity, reproducible workflows, and patient public involvement. Her PhD examined unexpectedly stable trajectories of patient‑reported functional mobility in people with Parkinson’s disease, combining epidemiological analyses with in‑depth qualitative investigations. She has conducted her research within the international cross-disciplinary research initiative on Parkinson’s disease NCER-PD and was the first nurse to complete a PhD at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg.

Dr. Anne-Marie HANFF is the Deputy Director ad interim for the programme Bachelor en Sciences Infirmières – Infirmier responsable de soins généraux. Also, she contributes to research training and capacity building for early‑career researchers as mentor in the .

She organises a monthly writing session at the Luxembourg Learning Centre in collaboration with the  bringing together nurses and nurse scientists for structured writing support and peer exchange. Since 2018, she regularly contributes to public discussions on healthcare, nursing, and social issues through the  programme on RTL Radio Luxembourg. She participates in national and European panels on health policy, digital health, innovation, and science communication. 

In parallel to her academic appointments, she contributes to evidence‑informed policymaking through her participation in the  and her leadership as president of the national nurses association () (since 2019). Drawing on her clinical and research experience, she supports partnerships between academia, healthcare institutions, professionals, patients, and policymakers.

Dr Anne‑Marie HANFF is a member of the Scientific Advisory Boards of  and , reflecting her recognised expertise in nursing science and Parkinson’s care. She was selected to participate in the highly competitive European Academy of Nursing Sciences (EANS) Summer School programme over multiple consecutive years (2020–2024). Also, she was selected as participant of the  campaign (2023) where she I shared her experience as a nurse‑researcher and young mother to encourage others to pursue scientific pathways. Recently she joined Rotary Esch-Bassin-Minier to further contribute to local community projects and promote the role of science and nursing expertise in socially impactful initiatives.

After working for several years as a general care nurse in Luxembourg, Germany, and Switzerland across a range of clinical settings, including internal medicine, home care, palliative care, emergency services, and Parkinson’s disease research (2009–2020), Dr Anne‑Marie Hanff completed her PhD within the Transversal Translational Medicine Department at the Luxembourg Institute of Health (2020–2025), in close collaboration with the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg and the Luxembourg Parkinson’s Research Clinic led by Prof. Rejko Krüger. She joined the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg in 2024 as an Education Programme Specialist and has been working as a Postdoctoral Researcher since 2025.

Dr Anne‑Marie HANFF obtained a PhD in Nursing Science jointly from Maastricht 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ and the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg. She holds a Master’s degree in Nursing Science from the Witten/Herdecke 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Applied Sciences Frankfurt. She completed her national nursing diploma and technical secondary education in nursing in Luxembourg.
