Annabelle Pierron is a midwife and researcher at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg (Department of Health, Medicine and Life Sciences).

Her research focuses on two complementary areas. The first focuses on the training of healthcare professionals, exploring how the design of study programmes, work-integrated learning models and interprofessional learning can support the development of clinical reasoning and collaborative practice. The second focuses on perinatal public health, with an emphasis on prevention, health promotion and the reduction of social inequalities in health. She was lead a research project on the prevention of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders, developing and evaluating complex interventions targeting the preconception period.

She teaches midwifery and public health, and is responsible for clinical teaching.

She has contributed to the COST Action on perinatal mental health and birth-related trauma.

She is member of EHESP public health doctoral network.

From 2020 to 2025, she was the principal investigator for the research project “Strategy for combating foetal alcohol spectrum disorders” at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Bordeaux.

Since January 2025, she has been part of the midwifery team at the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Luxembourg.

From 2020 to 2025, she was a contract researcher at Bordeaux Population Health, part of the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM) 1219.

She has been a practising midwife since 1996 and has worked at the Emile Mayrisch Hospital in Esch-sur-Alzette for over 25 years.

Her academic profile is underpinned by over twenty-five years of clinical experience as a midwife, which informs her research questions and their relevance to practice in the field.

She obtained her PhD in Life and Health Sciences in 2019 from the 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Lorraine.
