An invitation to reflect on the horizontal effect of fundamental rights in a time of climate change and spreading populism

Abstract

This workshop will revisit the question of the horizontal effect of constitutional rights in the time of climate change, pervasive political populism and digital social media platforms. It will pivot on the discussion of papers presented by Joel Bakan (8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of British Columbia), Richard Mailey (8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Alberta), Gautam Bhatia (Jindal Global Law School, New Delhi and Oliver Gerstenberg (8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ College London UCL). Assigned discussants of the papers will be Frank Michelman (Harvard 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½), Mark Tushnet (Harvard 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½) Stephen Gardbaum (Berkely 8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½) and Adreas Kulick (8xav¸£Àûµ¼º½ of Mainz).
