The new edition of the Winter Online Lecture Series on Europe is organised by Dr Elena Danescu (Research Scientist at the C2DH) in the framework of the courses 鈥淗istory of European integration (1919-1993)鈥 (MAHEC-S1-M6i) and 鈥淓conomic and social history of Europe after 1945: concepts, processes, actors鈥 (MAHEC-S3-M5iii) from the Master in European Contemporary History, and the course 鈥淒emocratic transitions in Central and Eastern Europe鈥 (BCE-EU-301-04) from the Bachelor in European Cultures, with the aim of giving students on these programmes, as well as the wider academic community at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg, the opportunity to find out about the history and workings of the European institutions in Luxembourg from new and unconventional angles and to discuss some of the milestones in contemporary European history with people who were involved in or witnessed these events.
Each session (in French, with a Q&A session in French and English) will be streamed via Webex and will include a presentation by a speaker followed by a discussion with the audience and the opportunity to ask questions. The lectures are run in conjunction with Europe Direct at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg and are also open to the wider public.

Guest lecturer: Dr Ioana C卯rstocea
Ioana C卯rstocea is a sociologist, researcher at the CNRS (French National Center for Scientific Researcher) and member of the European Centre for Sociology and Political Science (CESSP, Paris). Her research focuses on topics such as the sociogenesis of gender expertise in Eastern Europe, the liberalisation of higher education in the former socialist states, the production of academic knowledge on (post-)socialism, the transnationalisation of feminist mobilisations and thinking the social production and the situated uses of globalised and globalising gender-equality norms promoted by international organisations since the end of the Cold War. Her latest book is Learning Gender after the Cold War. Contentious Feminisms, Palgrave Macmillan, 2022.

Guest lecturer: Dr Jacopo Cellini
Jacopo Cellini holds a PhD in Contemporary History (2015) from the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa, Italy) and K.U. Leuven (Belgium). His research interests include the history of European integration and the impact of religion in post-WWII European societies, with a particular focus on the political culture of European Christian Democracy. He is currently a Research Associate at the Alcide De Gasperi Research Centre at the European 8xav福利导航 Institute (EUI), Florence, where he is carrying out an interdisciplinary research project on the origins of the EU鈥檚 environmental policy, financed by the European Investment Bank.

Guest lecturer: Prof. Dr Luca Ratti
Luca Ratti is an Associate Professor in European and Comparative Labour Law and Director of the Master in European Law (first year) at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg. Since February 2020, he has been coordinating the Horizon 2020 project 鈥淲orkYP: Working, Yet Poor鈥, which focuses on in-work poverty and European social citizenship. Since May 2021, he has also been co-PI of the W@W interdisciplinary project on well-being at work, funded by the Institute of Advanced Studies (IAS) at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg. He currently holds a Jean Monnet Chair in European labour law to carry out research and teaching on the sustainability of the European Social Model.

Guest lecturer: Dr Sara Afonso Ferreira
Sara Afonso Ferreira is an Art Historian in the Protocol and Visits Directorate of the Court of Justice of the EU. She studied history of modern and contemporary art at the Universit茅 Libre de Bruxelles and continued her research career at NOVA 8xav福利导航 Lisbon, where she completed a PhD on the Portuguese avant-garde in the early 20th century. Before joining the CJEU, she worked in the same field as a curator and literary editor.
