The new space age relies on advanced technology for its breakthroughs – with robotics at its very core. SpaceR conducts research in autonomous planetary and orbital robotics for space exploration, in-situ resource utilisation and orbital servicing. In addition, the group also focuses on aerial and ground robotics and multi-robot cooperation.

Robotics is, by definition, an interdisciplinary field. SpaceR hosts researchers with backgrounds in aerospace, control and mechatronics engineering, as well as computer science. As a group they welcome candidates interested in growing horizontally by acquiring expertise in a variety of disciplines, collaborating with their peers, and testing their results across different platforms. The group’s main focus areas are: autonomous maintenance, satellite servicing, in-space manufacturing, space resource localisation, perception, control and trajectory planning, multi-robot collaboration and autonomous manipulation for interaction with the environment.

Partners of all sizes will find a collaborative, multidisciplinary team experienced in supporting close-to-market and market-ready solutions in planetary, orbital, aerial and ground robotics. In addition, the group’s facilities, such as the LunaLab and the Zero-G lab, equipped with sensors, manipulators and other robotics tools, allow the testing of planetary and orbital robotics. SpaceR also conducts collaborative research with the Automation & Robotics group in the Aerial Robotics lab.

Research projects

Active Space Debris Removal

Learn more

</use>

All projects

Discover More About SpaceR

Labs
</use>

Partners
</use>

Members
</use>

The new space age relies on advanced technology for its breakthroughs – with robotics at its very core.
