It emerges from a strong cooperation between the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER), the Department in Economics and Management (DEM) of the Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance (FDEF) and the National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg (STATEC).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With the free movement of people within the EU, decreasing transportation and communication costs, global inequality and political instability around the world, more and more individuals have been crossing borders in recent decades, either as permanent or temporary migrants, as daily transnational commuters, or as refugees. These cross-border movements generate important challenges for EU countries in general, and for Luxembourg in particular. In Luxembourg, foreigners account for about 50% of the total population and daily commuters nearly double the size of the national labor force.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this context, ACROSS aims to develop tools to monitor, analyze and improve the understanding of the causes and consequences of these flows \u2013 a prerequisite for relevant advice to policy-makers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The three partner institutions aim to create a team of excellence on cross-border mobility, a team where migration and labor market scholars can interact together with data providers, and where new generations of PhD students can benefit from synergies between institutions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The DTU gathers members across three Luxembourgish research units and institutions:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"ulux-list\">\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">Our&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-en\/research-departments\/department-of-economics-and-management\/\">Department of Economics and Management (DEM)<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/statistiques.public.lu\/en\/statistique-publique\/statec\/red.html\">Research Division of the STATEC<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li class=\"ulux-list-item\">The&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.liser.lu\/\">Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research (LISER)<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>ACROSS builds on the Doctoral Programs of LISER and of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/research-en\/doctoral-education\/dsefm\/\">Doctoral School in Economics, Finance and Management (DSEFM)<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/section>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"","protected":false},"author":85,"featured_media":0,"parent":8447,"menu_order":0,"template":"","meta":{"featured_image_focal_point":[],"show_featured_caption":false,"ulux_newsletter_groups":"","uluxPostTitle":"","uluxPrePostTitle":"","_trash_the_other_posts":false,"_price":"","_stock":"","_tribe_ticket_header":"","_tribe_default_ticket_provider":"","_tribe_ticket_capacity":"0","_ticket_start_date":"","_ticket_end_date":"","_tribe_ticket_show_description":"","_tribe_ticket_show_not_going":false,"_tribe_ticket_use_global_stock":"","_tribe_ticket_global_stock_level":"","_global_stock_mode":"","_global_stock_cap":"","_tribe_rsvp_for_event":"","_tribe_ticket_going_count":"","_tribe_ticket_not_going_count":"","_tribe_tickets_list":"[]","_tribe_ticket_has_attendee_info_fields":false,"rpp_rp_identifier":"8443","rpp_taxonomies_in_sync":true},"research-project-status":[34],"research-project-type":[],"field-of-interest":[45,49,52,57],"organisation":[172,137,135],"authorship":[85,194,217],"acf":[],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO Premium plugin v22.3 (Yoast SEO v22.3) -
