{"id":44975,"date":"2026-01-22T08:05:00","date_gmt":"2026-01-22T07:05:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/?post_type=news&#038;p=44975"},"modified":"2026-01-22T16:36:36","modified_gmt":"2026-01-22T15:36:36","slug":"new-horizons-for-logistics-and-supply-chain-management-at-the-university-of-luxembourg","status":"publish","type":"news","link":"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/news\/new-horizons-for-logistics-and-supply-chain-management-at-the-university-of-luxembourg\/","title":{"rendered":"New horizons for Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<section class=\"py-0 wp-block-unilux-blocks-free-section section\"><div class=\"container xl:max-w-screen-xl\"><div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-md\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p>For&nbsp;just over a decade,&nbsp;the&nbsp;8xav福利导航&nbsp;has developed&nbsp;expertise&nbsp;in&nbsp;logistics&nbsp;and supply chain&nbsp;management,&nbsp;training&nbsp;Master&nbsp;students and PhD\u2019s,&nbsp;conducting&nbsp;research&nbsp;with&nbsp;partners and creating synergies with institutions and businesses.&nbsp;To broaden the scope of its activities and develop new&nbsp;initiatives,&nbsp;the activities&nbsp;in&nbsp;logistics&nbsp;and supply chain management&nbsp;are being transferred to the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine (FSTM), within the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/research-departments\/department-of-engineering\/\">Department of Engineering (DoE)<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Logistics\u00a0is an interdisciplinary field at the intersection of multiple disciplines across economics, management,\u00a0science,\u00a0and engineering. In this context,\u00a0the\u00a08xav福利导航\u00a0aims\u00a0to strengthen synergies between Logistics activities and Engineering Sciences, enabling researchers and students to\u00a0benefit\u00a0from closer collaboration with colleagues in this field.\u00a0These synergies\u00a0will\u00a0enable the development of a new\u00a0stream\u00a0in Industrial and Management Engineering, supported by the existing and expanding joint activities in research, education, and doctoral training. Among others, a notable result of the collaboration is the recently\u00a0acquired\u00a0Horizon Europe project\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/news\/university-of-luxembourg-to-lead-major-eu-project-on-urban-mobility-nextlogic\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NEXTLOGIC<\/a>, jointly coordinated by\u00a0the\u00a0DoE and\u00a0logistics\u00a0and supply\u00a0chain management\u00a0researchers.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"strengthening-education-and-research-to-meet-future-needs\"\n    >\nStrengthening education and research to meet future needs<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On the educational front, the transition enables the&nbsp;strengthening&nbsp;of the engineering educational programmes, with the expansion of the current&nbsp;logistics&nbsp;and supply chain management programme&nbsp;within&nbsp;a two-year Master&nbsp;programme.&nbsp;This new&nbsp;programme&nbsp;will&nbsp;answer the growing needs of the national and European stakeholders. During the transition to the new offer, the current&nbsp;programme&nbsp;in Logistics and Supply Chain Management is&nbsp;not&nbsp;offered for the academic year 2026-2027.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the past ten years,&nbsp;as part of&nbsp;the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-en\/research-departments\/department-of-economics-and-management\/\">Department of Economics and Management<\/a> at&nbsp;the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-en\/\">Faculty of Law, Economics and Finance<\/a>,&nbsp;the former <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fdef-en\/research-groups\/luxembourg-centre-for-logistics-and-supply-chain-management\/\">Luxembourg Center for Logistics (LCL)<\/a>&nbsp;has played&nbsp;a central role&nbsp;in training professionals and researchers.&nbsp;From&nbsp;Master\u2019s&nbsp;graduates to doctoral students, the&nbsp;centre&nbsp;has&nbsp;prepared&nbsp;talent that is now contributing to Luxembourg\u2019s economy and beyond.&nbsp;Its research&nbsp;attracted&nbsp;interest from the industry for joint research and partnerships.&nbsp;Through&nbsp;conferences, webinars,&nbsp;workshops<s>,<\/s>&nbsp;and research publications, LCL has also shaped the conversation in this rapidly evolving field.&nbsp;Integrating these activities&nbsp;into the DoE is a strategic investment in the 8xav福利导航\u2019s future,&nbsp;consolidating&nbsp;its mission to achieve excellence in research, education, and societal impact, and reaffirming its leadership in&nbsp;logistics, supply chain management, and industrial innovation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"        id=\"building-on-the-legacy-of-the-lcl-and-industrial-partnerships\"\n    >\nBuilding on the legacy of the LCL and industrial partnerships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Thanks to the continued support of its partners during the past 10 years, LCL has built&nbsp;a strong reputation&nbsp;within Luxembourg\u2019s&nbsp;logistics&nbsp;ecosystem, and the ambition is to strengthen the existing and create new industrial collaborations.&nbsp;Hosting these efforts within the Department of Engineering will enable new synergies and draw on&nbsp;consolidated&nbsp;experience in&nbsp;establishing&nbsp;long&nbsp;term&nbsp;partnerships, among others&nbsp;demonstrated&nbsp;by the department\u2019s three prestigious industrial chairs: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/chairs\/arcelormittal-chair-of-steel-construction\/\">ArcelorMittal Chair of Steel Construction<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/chairs\/paul-wurth-chair\/\">Paul Wurth Chair of Energy Process Engineering<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/fstm-en\/chairs\/ceratizit-chair-in-hard-and-advanced-materials\/\">CERATIZIT Chair in Hard and Advanced Materials<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These chairs bring deep technical&nbsp;expertise, strong links with industry, structural funding, support in technical and infrastructure assets, and a culture of applied research.
