class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-wrapper\">\n<p>Professor Stanciu (Adrian) is the current head of the Institute for Lifespan Development, Family, and Culture. He researches at the intersection of four interdisciplinary themes: ageing (developmental processes in old age), culture (specifics of migrant populations), mental health (loneliness, depression, and anxiety), and digital technology (information and communication technologies, and algorithms like AI).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His mission and goal is to contribute with systematic evidence to creating inclusive and sustainable societies in times of rapid technological growth while an increasing number of international migrants grow old and settle in foreign countries. As such, he works on establishing two lines of research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Growing old in a foreign country<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The specific risk factors and health needs of people growing old in a foreign country are insufficiently addressed in research, policy making and technology development. This contributes with increased challenges leading to aggravated health inequalities in society. Professor Stanciu works on a series of conceptual and empirical papers to define this field of inquiry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IAS-funded event PSOAMLux that took place March 2025 at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg has helped define his long-term vision on the topic. Read more <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/research-en\/ias\/funded-projects\/brainstorm\/#psoamlux-panel-study-of-older-and-ageing-migrants-in-luxembourg\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An outreach initiative \u2013 <em>the GOLD* Podcast <\/em>\u2013 is currently in development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Digital technology and inequalities<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Digital technology can offer cost-effective solutions to individual and societal challenges including in administration, health, and at work. However, not everyone has access to technology or posses the skills to benefit fully from technology. Specific populations such as migrants and younger and older workers face unique challenges compared to mainstream majority populations leading to new forms of inequalities. Professor Stanciu has networked with an interdisciplinary team of experts aiming to identify effective solutions that work for everyone in policy and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The IAS-funded event A(I)geing@Work that took place March 2026 at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg is an important milestone in this line of work.
