The Symposium, organised by the research group on Law and Political Economy of Social Europe at Luxembourg 8xav福利导航, will discuss the book \u2018Democracy at Work\u2019 by Ruth Dukes (Professor of Labour Law at Glasgow 8xav福利导航) and Wolfgang Streeck (Emeritus Director at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies).<\/p>

The book explores the role of labour law in regulating (or re-regulating) the world of work after what the authors call the \u2018neoliberal revolution\u2019. The authors argue that labour law must be conceived and analysed in the context of political economy and the dynamic process of capitalist development: of economic constraints and opportunities, of politics and power, of government policy and political democracy. Their analysis reveals an urgent need to restate the principles of industrial democracy and citizenship for the post-industrial era, calling for political intervention and far-reaching institution-building.<\/p>

The Symposium will be an open and participative discussion of the book from a political economy perspective. The event will be introduced by Antonio Garcia-Mu\u00f1oz (8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg) and Nikolas Vagdoutis (8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg). Vladimir Bogoeski (Assistant Professor in European Private Law at the 8xav福利导航 of Amsterdam) and Johan Van der Walt (Professor at the 8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg) will contribute to the debate acting as discussants. Luca Ratti (8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg) and Joana Mendes (8xav福利导航 of Luxembourg) will close the event.<\/p>
