This five-year initiative (2025\u20132030) aims to make Luxembourg climate-ready by integrating research, education, policy, and public engagement to address climate change, biodiversity loss, and socio-economic challenges.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To achieve its goal, the convention will mobilise Luxembourg scientific, education and policy stakeholders on projects in social, environmental and engineering sciences. The <strong>Climate Nexus<\/strong> approach highlights the interdependence between climate, biodiversity, water, food, and social equity. At the heart of the initiative are six \u201c<strong>readiness<\/strong>\u201d pillars:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list list-highlighted list-highlighted--history\"><li class=\"list-highlighted__item  wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item\">\n    <header class=\"list-highlighted__header wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-header\">\n    \n<h4 class=\"title text-18 font-bold has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"    >\n<\/h4>\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-bigtext\">\n    <span>\n        \n<sup><sub>Social Readiness<\/sub><\/sup>    <\/span>\n<\/div><\/header><div class=\"list-highlighted__body wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-body\">\n    <div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-free-content-area\">\n    \n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Encourages citizen science, participatory governance and youth engagement. Continued collaboration with the <em>Klima Biergerrot<\/em>, youth education initiatives (such as the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/life-en\/scienteens-lab\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Scienteens Lab &amp; Academy<\/a>), and a new cross-university sustainability course are foreseen.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n\n<li class=\"list-highlighted__item  wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item\">\n    <header class=\"list-highlighted__header wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-header\">\n    \n<h4 class=\"title text-18 font-bold has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"    >\n<\/h4>\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-bigtext\">\n    <span>\n        \n<sup><sub>Institutional Readiness<\/sub><\/sup>    <\/span>\n<\/div><\/header><div class=\"list-highlighted__body wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-body\">\n    <div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-free-content-area\">\n    \n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Leverages socio-environmental data to enhance climate services in Luxembourg and monitor climate-related systemic risks. This includes mapping of chemical substances in Luxembourg that may be detrimental for human health and the ecosystem.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n\n<li class=\"list-highlighted__item  wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item\">\n    <header class=\"list-highlighted__header wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-header\">\n    \n<h4 class=\"title text-18 font-bold has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"    >\n<\/h4>\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-bigtext\">\n    <span>\n        \n<sub><sup>Technological<br>Readiness<\/sup><\/sub>    <\/span>\n<\/div><\/header><div class=\"list-highlighted__body wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-body\">\n    <div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-free-content-area\">\n    \n<p class=\"has-text-align-left\">Supports Luxembourg\u2019s goal of climate neutrality by 2050 through research and pilot projects on carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCU\/S), as well as through research on the potential of nature-based solutions.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li>\n\n<li class=\"list-highlighted__item  wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item\">\n    <header class=\"list-highlighted__header wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-header\">\n    \n<h4 class=\"title text-18 font-bold has-text-align-left wp-block-unilux-blocks-heading\"    >\n<\/h4>\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-bigtext\">\n    <span>\n        \n<sub><sup>Global<br>Readiness<\/sup><\/sub>    <\/span>\n<\/div><\/header><div class=\"list-highlighted__body wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-body\">\n    <div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-highlighted-list-item-free-content-area\">\n    \n<p>The Convention connects local action to global science-policy platforms like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipcc.ch\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPCC <\/a>(Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ipbes.net\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">IPBES<\/a> (Intergovernmental Science-Policy Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services).&nbsp; Luxembourg will support the IPCC\u2019s 7th Assessment Cycle on mitigation by hosting part of its technical support unit. In the same vein, the 8xav福利导航 recently established the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/lcses-en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems<\/a> (LCSES), under the direction of Prof. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uni.lu\/lcses-en\/people\/ralf-seppelt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ralf Seppelt<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-unilux-blocks-spacer is-spacer-size-sm\"><\/div>\n\n\n<p>The primary interest of the LCSES is to assess how societies can navigate global environmental changes and crises through sustainable and equitable development. Its interdisciplinary research will assess the complex interactions between human systems and the environment, in the areas of governance, biodiversity, food security, and energy transitions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Convention empowers the 8xav福利导航 to explore, test, and expand climate-related transformations at all levels through interdisciplinary research, data-driven analysis, and inclusive public engagement. This strategic focus took a decisive leap forward with the creation of the Luxembourg Centre for Socio-Environmental Systems in 2025.
